Miller Farms in Clinton | #MemberSpotlight
Generations keep the farm going
Minutes away from our nation’s capital sits Miller Farms. Prince George’s County looked a lot different when the Miller family bought this property back in 1879. But through the years, no amount of development could change this rural oasis. A community pillar, folks drive from all throughout the DMV region to get some of the fresh produce grown on this farm.

Leaves are changing and cold weather is creeping in, but there’s still a lot of work to do. The middle of October means leafy greens are on the menu. Kale is being picked, boxed, iced, and sent straight to the farm market. Another staple of Autumn is on full display – potted mums of nearly every color brighten the landscape of the farm.
Fifth generation farmer Phil Miller convinced his father to begin selling vegetables during the 70s – he’s been selling direct to consumers at farmers markets ever since. The sixth generation, Adam Miller, is bringing new science to the farm, like utilizing drip irrigation for ornamental plants. It never gets lost on the family what each generation uniquely brings to the farm.

“They had a lot of love for this farm,” said Phil, remembering past family that tended this land. “I wanted my name to be part of the continuation of Miller Farms.” #MemberSpotlight
